Youan - When You're Around

Wow. This track is madness! Featured on Annie Mac's Free Music Mondays, Youan's track entitled "When You're Around" is a mixture of bass, garage and house with R&B vocals and has a very contemporary UK sound. In fact I think I'll just let the track do the talking, give it a listen below:

PS. You can even download it for free! Sweet deal!

Thursday Stumble Vol. 4

Oh man, first off I would like to apologise on behalf of SSSB for being so quiet. We have been really busy studying and running our illegal Mozambiquean Tupperware import business. But nevertheless, the return of the Thursday Stumble is here (albeit on a Saturday, but I started writing it on a Thursday so it still counts!). This week's stumble sees me slipping into the deep end. I am usually not that big a fan of the deep house sounds, but lately these funky deep beats have been speaking to me like Darth Vader - "Shayne, come to the deep side!". These tracks will move your booty to boombastic proportions. Also in this week's stumble, some electronic and tech stuff to move your booty equally, if not more. Enjoy!

Festival Girlfriend - Stockholm Syndrome (Download link)

Oh man! This tune has done things to my body that I could only reveal to my therapist. Deep vibes with electro elements and super sexy vocals. Definitely a must-have.

The 2 Bears - Be Strong (Download link)

This bouncy track is brought to you by none other than Hot Chip's Joe Goddard and his bear partner Raff Rundell. I really like the groovy funky bassline and the super catchy vocals about the love for the music.

Tiga & Jori Hulkkonen - Trust Your Body (Danny Daze Dub) (Download link)

This track blends elements of deep and tech in a way that I approve. Trust your body, your body never lies.

Justin Jay - The Jaguar (Download link)

This deep tune has a variety of tasty elements that come together to form a mellow yet groovy track, and the combination of instrumentation with the electronic elements works nicely.

Prince Club & Harvard Bass - Canixo (Download link)

Canixo is deep/tech number with a wonky bassline and an almost progressive-sounding build up. I think its cool. Do you?

Brodinski featuring Theophilus London - Gimme Back The Night (Download link)

This is a dark little party number from French producer Brodinski and one of my personal favourites Theophilus London. A deep pulsating bassline punctuated by TL's saucy Prince-like taunts.

The Hacker - Shockwave (Gesaffelstein Remix) (link removed)

Picked up this dirty electro child on the streets of Los Santos playing Grand Theft Auto 5. A heavy but crunchy tune that brought me much joy as I wreaked havoc on my Playstation.

Chromeo - Sexy Socialite

One of my favourite groups, Chromeo, have released a brand new single from their upcoming album White Women, which is apparently due next year sometime. This follows the release of another single a few weeks ago called Over Your Shoulder. Oh man, I really love these guys, if you haven't heard of them, I would attempt to describe their sound as cheesy, synth-driven, disco and 80's inspired, electro funk pop music. Consisting of producer 'P-Thugg' and vocalist Dave1, the duo have released 3 albums together, all of which I have listened to many many times. Their last album Business Casual was released in 2010 and was highly successful, so the prospect of a new Chromeo LP really turned me on.

This excitement was increased exponentially when I listened to this single, Sexy Socialite: classic Chromeo cheese with a a totally funky bassline and Dave1's unique vocal styling delivering typically witty, seductive and catchy lyrics about a sexy socialite who thinks she's too cool for him. I find this song extremely catchy and have fallen in love with it, but I guess I'm just a big Chromeo fan. I especially enjoy the rebuttle to Dave1's accusations from the female vocalist in the song, as well as P-Thugg's classic vocoder vocals too. Have a listen! And try not to do a little dance, I dare you.

And as a bonus here is the previous single Over Your Shoulder, which is a slower tempo track but equally funka-fied:

Tunes!

Okay okay okay I know its been too long. Way too long! Below are the tunes that have been treating me oh so well lately. Back to the music we go!

Passion Pit - Let your love grow tall (Maor Levi's Starlight remix)

This is definitely one of the most beautiful tunes I've ever heard! Nothing much more to say about this one. Maor Levi is a genius!

Maor Levi feat Daphne - Beautiful Disaster (Original Mix)

Another massive track from Maor Levi and yet again its amazing. This time he takes the electro route but the result remains the same. Awesome tune. Love the vocals too!

Jeremy Olander vs Kent - Petroleum (Original Mix)

When something is released on Eric Prydz label "Pryda Friends", you know that the track will be nothing short of progressive bliss. Teaming up with the front man of Swedish group Kent, Jeremy Olander definitely delivers the goods on this one.

Orjan Nilsen feat Christina Novelli - Hurricane (Original Mix)

Off his album released on Armada recordings, No Saint Out of Me, Orjan Nilsen has cooked up some amazing trance tunes and Hurricane is definitely one of his best! Its got a similar feeling to his classic tune 'Viking'. It's got that classic, beautiful, big room trance feel to it.

Seven Lions with Myon and Shane 54 feat Tove Lo - Strangers

What happens when amazing trance producers Myon and Shane 54 make a track with melodic dubstep heavyweights Seven Lions? An amazing tune happens. Trance and dubstep work so well together on this one. Oh and the vocals, unbelievable!

Alex Clare - Treading Water (Noisses Remix)

Ooooooooooooooohhhhh! Really love remixes of Alex Clare and this one is no different. Very bouncy and very very funky. MMMMM treading water.

MNEK vs Disclosure - White Noise (XYconstant Remix)

Disclosure have been in the headlines as of late with the release of their album "Settle" and with the buzz around their lead single White Noise. I cant say that its my favorite tune though. However, this organ remix from xyconstant is amaziiiiiing!

Pleasurekraft, Jaceo and Vedic - Chloroformd (Original Mix)

A new deep tune from Pleasurekraft, absolutely love this! Very funky and a huge bassline! Definitely have to turn this one up

Calvin Harris feat Ayah Marah - Thinking About You

Its incredible that Calvin Harris made over $40 million this year, making him the highest paid DJ in the world. He's had huge commercial success. I definitely prefer his older "less commercial" music. However, with that said, I really love this track. Summer vibes and all round feel good tune. Good on you Calvin!

Anna Kendrick - Cups (Jello Sea remix)

Those of you that have seen the movie Pitch Perfect will know the original of this song. Very few will know this remix made by a DJ who's been producing for only a few months. This is nothing like anything I've ever listened to and its just very different BUT I really love it. This track is soulful, down-tempo and just very cool. The vocals have been slowed down and as read in a review, has "an extraterrestrial beat" which just about sums this tune up.

Thursday Stumble Vol. 3

The time has come once again (Thursday that is) for me to share some bumping tracks that I've stumbled across on the interweb that is so vast and ever expanding. This week's selection includes some trap/bass, electro roboto vibes, deep house, French house and electronica to get your living room dancefloor ready to go. Perhaps even some tunes for that musical sanctuary we all know and love, the shower! Standard.

AlunaGeorge - You Know You Like It (DJ Snake remix) (free download)

A chilled bassy and spacey brand new remix from DJ Snake, kinda reminds me of Hold Yuh (Major Lazer remix) by Gyptian. Check out his much heavier Yeezus remix posted earlier this month here.

Oxford - Combo (free download)

A groovy disco type number similar to the work of one of my personal favourite French producers Yuksek, with a sumptuous bassline and some nice guitars that achieves a mellow yet funky vibe.

Kris Menace feat. Black Hills - Waiting For You (Oliver Remix) (Download link)

A funkeh little remix from SSSB favourites Oliver with their signature retro-yet-futuristic vibe.

Snakehips - Make It (free download)

A crazy trap/bass anthem with the right balance where it ain't too heavy but it ain't playin' round neither!

Kaytranada - Free Things In Life (Download link)

This is a super-dope head-boppin bass track to jam with the homies in your Cadillac, six woofers and four amps.

Levi - X-ing (free download)

This relatively unknown French producer's sound could be described as Kavinsky-lite (which is not a bad thing). Cool epic electronica that has a strange progression to it that seems to just work.

Faul feat. Wad Ad - Changes (free download)

Oh my days. This song is life changing. As a not-so-big fan of deep house, this is personally the best deep house song I've ever heard. So chilled and groovy with a beautiful chant of children singing and some silky smooth saxophone, this song is one of SSSB's best of the year without a doubt. Shout out to Deep Jams for discovering this masterpiece.

And there you have it for this Thursday's stumblization. Hope you enjoy the tracks and give some feedback!

Deadmau5

Probably the most controversial yet talented person in dance music, Deadmau5 is in the limelight again, this time for all the right reasons. In the last month he has posted a number of Soundcloud previews and a full length track called Suckfest 9001 which has an electro vibe to it, similar to that of his track Animal Rights with Wolfgang Gartner.

However, it is not this that interests me, nor the track called DROP DA BOMB (Outerspace mix) which basically disses the masses who have filled up the Beatport charts with tracks that sound so similar to Nari and Milani's "Atom". No. What interests me is the clip called Suite 02. Genre: "IdeaStep".

It's basically impossible to forget Strobe and the beautiful HR 8938 Cephei, two of my favourite Deadmau5 tunes. Suite 02 sounds like it could be a combination of these two tracks but yes, it's a preview and we have no idea what the drop might sound like. It could be the filthiest dubstep or it could be the most beautiful thing my young ears have ever heard. All I know is that when Deadmau5 turns up to make melodic progressive house music, there is simply no one better than him at it. So I guess we'll have to sit back and wait anxiously for the full, finished product.

The mau5 has also posted some very ambient sounding clips like "Suite 04b". Earlier today he also posted a very chilled out glitch hop/ liquid drum and bass/ ambient type track called "Entschuldigen Sie" (Spelled correctly) which is awesome!

Who knows, maybe he'll stick some of the clips together or maybe he won't finish any of them at all. Lets hope we hear some new full length Deadmau5 soon! We'll keep you updated!

Keep on dancin'!!

Dash Berlin & Alexander Popov feat Jonathan Mendelsohn - Steal You Away (Music Video)

Dash Berlin is definitely my favourite Trance DJ/producer and therefore my favourite of all time. His productions are always amazing and his live performances are absolutely unbelievable. Anyone who's seen Dash live will agree. There's a reason why he was ranked #7 in the 2012 DJ Mag Top 100 DJ's list and to be honest I think he should be ranked even higher.

Back to the topic, Dash Berlin has teamed up with Alexander Popov and vocalist Jonathan Mendelsohn to create a typical Dash Berlin festival feel track. It doesn't disappoint. First played at EDC Chicago, this track apparently made the huge crowd go absolutely nuts. Quite understandable. A few hours ago, the official music video was released. Three women road-tripping to Vegas to watch Dash at EDC. Definitely on my bucket list!

To further treat your ears, here is Dash Berlins EDC Chicago set. Easily one of the best I've ever heard!
