Moonbeam - The Random

So, Moonbeam have released another album called "The Random". And thats exactly what it is. It's the group's fourth album but it is also their first film score for the directorial debut of Moonbeam's Pavel Khaleev. For those of you who don't know what a film score is, its the music that is played during the film.

The album comprises of 12 original tracks which are the film score versions and then there are also 10 club mixes of most of the original tracks featuring vocals from Moonbeam favourites such as Avis Vox, Leusin, Matvey Emerson and Blackfeel White. Pretty wicked. Moonbeam make some pretty freaky music but their stuff is amazing because its so different to anything you'll ever hear. Although they're classified as "Trance" I tend to disagree. They are their own genre.
Mixmag said this about the album "With its exacting production, stunning FX, moody, beautiful songs, dreamscape synthery and add-in movie appeal, ‘The Random’ has the makings of a game-changer for Moonbeam” –  10/10 - Album of the Month, Mixmag - Feb 2013

At the moment I can't say that it's my favourite album of theirs but hopefully it will gow on me more. Favourite tracks on the album? Only You feat Jacob A and Together feat Blackfeel White (Club Mix). Only You has a very different dark "chillstep" kinda vibe to it that I've never heard from Moonbeam before. Really like it. Together (Club Mix) is a lot more trancey and has a very trippy up-tempo drop. RAVE!

Give it a listen!

The video for Only You has a man, a boat and a woman on a horse. Random.

The trailer for this album/movie is also one of the freakiest/most random/crazy but cool things I've ever seen. Definitely worth watching!
